In the new die casting lines in the Werdohl plant of Georg Fischer M?ssner, all stations from casting to premachining are united in a fully automated robotic network. And thanks to an ingenious database system, the history of each 4-cylinder aluminium engine block is fully traceable. Georg Fischer GmbH is synonymous with advanced light metal casting. The company recently invested some EUR 20 million in new die casting lines for its Werdohl/Sauerland plant. By the end of 2004, four die casting machines will produce approximately 500,000 1.6 l common rail diesel engines per year for the PSA Group (Peugeot/Citro?n). The first part of the system is set to enter production in June 2003. Automation of the production lines was entrusted to Boll Handhabungssysteme GmbH. Together with the customer, we designed solutions for the line network, explains managing partner Dietmar Boll. The planning and implementation of user-oriented solutions is a core competence of the company.
