Many manufacturers nationwide are having a difficult time finding quality welders. Based on U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, the American Welding Society (AWS) estimates a welder shortage of 372,000 in the U.S. by 2026. In order to stay in business and be competitive, forward-thinking companies are now looking into automating their processes.

Next week at FABTECH, visitors can attend Yaskawa Motoman’s presentation about a recent case study: “How State-of-the-Art Robotic Joining Technology Can Solve Your Welder Labor Shortage”. This discussion outlines how a manufacturer went from having no robotic welding automation to a system that incorporates most of the advanced welding technologies currently available. This robotic technology has increased weld quality and reduced the demand for qualified welders. If you will be attending the show, please make plans to register for this session.

At the Yaskawa Motoman booth (#N-2718), FABTECH attendees will see the technology that addresses the skilled welder shortage, cuts costs, increases profitability and expands capabilities. We will highlight arc and spot welding solutions for manufacturers of all sizes, from high-volume suppliers to high-mix, low-volume job shops. In addition, we will feature a variety of welding options for increased flexibility and improved uptime.

Arc Welding
The ArcWorld? C-30 and ArcWorld IV-6200SL will represent our extensive family of ArcWorld solutions. These pre-engineered, ready-to-weld, arc welding solutions are available in various configurations to meet a wide variety of manufacturing requirements. The ArcWorld C-30 is an affordable, entry-level sized cell with a flat table to mount a welding jig. It is ideal for high-mix, low-volume job shops looking for a sustainable approach to growth. Our popular ArcWorld IV-6200SL is designed for higher-performance, higher-volume applications. It features dual MA1440 robots and a space-efficient, ferris-wheel style positioner that allows for loading and unloading of parts while the robot is welding.

Spot Welding
Our MS80W II and MS165 spot welding robots feature a streamlined design to enable higher robot density and the ability to reach into confined spaces, improving application flexibility. These compact, fast spot welding robots are designed to take advantage of lighter weight Mid-Frequency Direct Current (MFDC) spot guns with servo motor actuation. See how two robots models with different payloads are synchronized with a part positioner for high production in a compact footprint.

Simplified Teaching
The Kinetiq Teaching? option greatly simplifies and speeds robot programing for welding. This makes the quality and economics of robotics practical for job shops with high-mix, low-volume part batch sizes. Kinetiq Teaching allows welders to position the robot by guiding it manually. A simplified ICON based menu makes programming similar to a smart phone application.

Drives and Motion
The Drives and Motion division will show the Sigma-7 Servo System and MP3200iec Machine Controller. Attendees and exhibitors are welcome to stop by to discuss servo or machine control applications in waterjet, plasma, and laser cutting, wire and tube bending, press feed applications and automated cut off saws. as well as assembly cells.

Yaskawa Motoman is ready to handle your welding challenges. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and look forward to seeing you at the show.
