Did you ever think that taking a walk or going for a run on a beautiful summer day could do so much good? Besides getting a little exercise and enjoying the sunshine, it can lead to big things.
In September, many of our employees took part in our IMPACT Corporate Giving Program’s second annual 5K Event. Co-workers cheered them on, bought raffle tickets and played games to raise money for
Goodwill Easter Seals of Miami Valley. The donations of our participants, along with a generous company match, will provide funds for the much-needed programs and services of Goodwill Easter Seals.
How else have we made an impact? We recently cleaned out our closets, attics and garages to donate clothes, toys and other household items for a Donation Drive. These items not only go to the Goodwill stores for resale, but they also help such programs as Adult Day Services, Job Coaching, Youth Services and more.
Something as simple as reading a good book also helps in a big way. IMPACT volunteers who participate in Goodwill Easter Seals’ Radio Reading Service have provided nearly 100 hours of books, short stories and special programming in the last several months. These programs are broadcast through special radios to listeners in our area who are visually impaired.
So if you think small things can’t make a big difference, consider this: Would you be interested in visiting with senior citizens? Do you like tinkering with computers or playing in card tournaments? These are a few of the many ways that you can give back to your community through Goodwill Easter Seals.
